And also the third one is home now !

Hey guys,

I made it home last night at 4 am in the morning. After a long long day of travelling with the trains from Ettlenschieß (close to Ulm) to Michendorf (close to my home) I had the possibility to come cycling into my hometown by night when the village is still sleeping.

After there were some problems (due to heavy storm) with the rails close to my destination the Deutsche Bahn paid a taxi for me that drove me and my bike home for the last 117 km.

(over 60 min delay -> it ended up to 3 hours delay)

But now i´m home and I  am really really thankful for the time I had with the tricycle and pentcycle

Looking forward to a new project ! Where shall we cycle to? Amsterdam? London? Barcelona? I guess for now we all better stay close to our homes and relax.

I would also like to thank everyone who followed our blog ! Thanks for your mental support ! We really appreciated it !

Just wanna say, I really had an amazing time, and if I had the chance I would go right away and do it again! Best tricycle ever – indeed!

There are no cangoroos in Austria

Hey guys,

 

in the last two days we travelled through Austria with burning tires having the Danube always next to us and the sun in our faces and now we reached the city of Linz.

 

Memo to ourselves: “Austrian people are definetely politer when they are not cycling on their bikes !” On both of the last days we asked some people that have a yard next to their house, if we could put up our tents and they immediately responded with: “Ok, fine, over here it´s good !”

 

Tonight we are staying in a youth hostel, because the monastery we ought to have a place to sleep at, didn´t know of our arrival.

 

Our plan for tomorrow is to reach Germany and hopefully not the bad german weather.

A Gap In Space-Time-Continuum

Guys,

we experienced something pretty amazing the last four days: By pure luck we might have passed a gap in space-time-continuum. By this we were able to travel a way that was supposed to be a 12-days-trip from Budapest to Vienna in only four days.

Unfortunately this also caused a lack of material to talk about.

Tami did something for the environment and got in closer contact with a tree. She poked this beautiful living being gently with her bike. But the tree didnt respond.

In Bratislava Jan showed his gratitude to the city and touched the ground short after arrival.

In the same city we got to know the feeling of being a comrade in the communism … The RedStar-Hostel keeps the communism alive.

Yesterday we arrived in Vienna and today Lauri (a friend of Augustin) joined the team and we became the Bitricycle.

Thats all there is to say for now. No time for a catchphrase. Bye.

Nachtrag: From Belgrade to Budapest

We started in Belgrade really demotivated – it was the time when we weren’t willing to go on anymore. But on this part of the tour we experienced again how nice people can be and that nothing, not even demotivation can stop the tricycle from coming home!

Before Novi Sad. A Serbian guy offered us a place under his roof. Was great.

In Hungary we stayed with the family of Benz – it was sooo great. Here’s a picture of the breakfast we had together. We loved this place

 

 

Sometimes you just have to be lucky. We just started cycling on that day when we made a stop in a village (still Serbia) to check the way. Suddenly a woman came and asked us if she is allowed to invite us for lunch. We are not stupid so we gave her a yes and we followed her into a restaurant.

We almost never felt so underdressed like at that moment. It was a openingcelebration for a new tourist restaurant and we were invited as the first tourists and got all for free.

So we – dressed with our sexy bikepants and unbrushed teeth sweaty and in need of a shower – joined the people who were dressed like on a wedding – but it was great. The food was delicious and we were happy.

We have reached Budapest

Hey guys,

we have finally reached the so called “Pearl of the Danube” – Budapest. The people, who made up this name were right ! It is a great city with beautiful buildings, streets and bridges.

Unfortunately the town is not bicycle-friendly at all, since there are basically only 2 bigger roads in the whole town that have a path for cyclers next to it.

The nice student “Yani”, who we found on WarmShowers.org offered us a place to stay for 2 days. His appartment is really small, but it is close to the center of the town. The sad thing is that he is working a lot so we couldn´t really get to know him the first days.

From now on the name “tricycle” is not really fitting anymore – it should rather be “pentcycle”, because we would like to introduce two new cylcers to our group. Two days ago Jonathan (Auge´s brother) and Michi (a friend of Jonathan) reached Budapest by train and joined our group now. They will go back to Germany together with us from now on.

Our plans for the next days are to cycle into direction Bratislava. We guess we might reach there in about 2 and a half days. So till then stay with us and you will hear from us soon !

We just experience amazing hospitality!

I think now it’s really time to say THANKs to all those great people, we don’t really know, but which are so wonderfull to us…

We are cycling through Bulgaria and Serbia, crossing villages, but wherever we come to, there is always somebody who helps us.

Some nice examples…

We have been tired…

We asked for water …
they gave us wine, schnaps, cigarettes, coffe and a lot of cucumbers!

… they gave us serbian-coffe, coke and more schnaps!

We asked for water… they gave us to drink, helped us reparing the broken bike and donate us with a bag of chocolate, cookies and sweet things!

We have been hungry… they cooked great food for us.

We asked for a doctor… they bought us a cream against my paining knee!

We asked for the farry timetable … and they paid our beer and gave us a cheap private ship over!

Belgrad – Here we are!

It took us maybe 4 days to get from Vidin to Belgrad. Here we have some random pics that describe the tour. Enjoy!

we had to go to the other side of the river by ferry that left at 7:00 pm. but – we came too late … 10 minutes maybe. desperately we went into a pub and we got to know a guy who was willing to ship us over the danube for less than the normal ferry price. Serbia is great!

We stayed in Belgrad for 2 nights – tomorrow we wanna go to Novi Sad and after that we plan to cycle to Budapest so that we are there at the 11th.
